Due to hosting security vulnerability concerns Weebly is no longer being supported as an add-on in our suite of hosting products.
This will affect a small number of our customers. Webmatic sincerely offers apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
Current Weebly sites will progressively be phased out in coming months. We will be in touch with each affected customer individually, to help you find the best outcome to overcome this change.
Why Is Weebly No Longer Being Supported?
First off, we love Weebly. It's easy to use and up until recently has been a good complement to our services. In the past, Weebly Cloud Data (i.e. your website files in transit, once you hit the 'publish' button in Weebly) has historically been transmitted unencrypted over the Internet, using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) which may be vulnerable to hackers. We did have a secure firewall that made this safe: on our legacy system it all worked just fine. But due to changes in technology our hosting security systems have evolved; Weebly's systems have not and may offer easy access to website hackers.
Since we are committed to highest levels of server security on our servers, we have implemented SSL's even more secure successor known as TLS (Transport Layer Security). We are therefore faced with no option to use Weebly.
